C I T Y  G O V E R N M E N T

The City of Meadville is incorporated as a Third Class City with an Optional Charter/Council-Manager form of government. The day-to-day operations of the City are administered by a full time City Manager appointed by Meadville City Council.

Meadville City Councilmembers are elected, at large, to serve a four year term. There are a total of four Councilmembers plus the position of Mayor. Councilmember positions are part-time. The City Clerk's Office provides City Council with staff support. This office serves as a documents and records information resource to City Council, City departments and the public.

City Council meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of every month in the Meadville City Building, 984 Water Street, in the Council Chambers on the first floor, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The public is welcome to attend. Council schedules, as needed, work sessions on the first and third Wednesday of each month beginning at 4:00 p.m. in the Conference Room on the first floor of the City Building. Both meeting rooms are handicap accessible.
