Code Enforcement

Code Enforcement is responsible for ensuring that all properties within the City are compliant with the City's Property Maintenance Code to protect the health, safety, and welfare of City residents. Compliance with property maintenance code is critical to the stabilization and  vitality of our neighborhoods. Deteriorating properties decrease neighboring property values, deter investment, inhibit civic pride, and often pose a tangible safety hazard to the community. When properties are maintained appropriately, they strengthen the community's physical, social, and economic health.

Code Enforcement conduct exterior property maintenance inspections only, unless an interior inspection is requested by a tenant and/or property owner. The City currently has three part-time Code Enforcement Officers. One for properties located east of Main St.; one for properties located west of Main St.; and one for requested interior inspections. To report a violation or request an interior inspection, please contact the appropriate officer at the email/number found on the left side of the page.

For any code issues related to building construction or zoning, please contact the Code Enforcement & Zoning Administrator.
