Spring Cleanup Week

The City of Meadville Beautification Committee is proud to announce its first ever Citywide Cleanup Week in conjunction with several area businesses and government entities.

On Tuesday, May 7th, Lincoln Recycling, 986 N. French St., will be collecting unlimited electronics for free. It is a drop-and-go site where city residents may recycle computers, telephones, DVD players, etc. However, there is a limit on one television per household.

On Wednesday, May 8, Tri-County will be collecting large appliances such as ovens, refrigerators, washers, dryers, etc. Appliances with freon are acceptable. There is a limit on the amount of appliances that the Tri-County truck will be able to take. Therefore, there are only 30 appliance spaces available. To claim a ticket to bring an appliance, please visit the Meadville Market House. Tickets are $20 each; cash only.

On Thursday, May 9th, Flynn’s Tire & Auto Service, 1158 Park Ave., will sponsor a tire recycling day. The rate is $2 per tire for light truck and passenger cars only. The first 10 tires that are recycled on that day at Flynn's are free.

On Friday, May 10th, Women’s Services Inc., 204 Spring St., will collect home goods. It is imperative that these items are clean AND functional. That includes microwaves, appliances, flat-screen TVs, dishes, cups and silverware. Televisions are the most in demand.

The cleanup week will conclude on Saturday, May 11, at the city’s Public Works Garage, 1340 S. Cottage St. From 8 a.m. to noon, the city will accept construction materials (bricks, concrete blocks, shingles and dried paint cans), mattresses, batteries, yard waste and organic materials. Each vehicle load is $10 and residents must require proof of residency. Unaccepted items include electronics, fluorescent light bulbs, tires, household trash, clothing, appliances with Freon, and thermostats with mercury.
